Fidelity Investments is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test with a strong software development background.
This role is part of the Quality Engineering organization within the Workplace Investing division, where you’ll design and build test automation frameworks and internal utilities to support scalable, high-quality software delivery. You’ll also contribute to E2E, Performance testing, CI/CD pipeline integration, and shift-left testing strategies to ensure early defect detection and continuous quality improvement. This role will be based out of Smithfield, RI
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required
Experience using REST, Java, Web Services, SOAP, Git, Jenkins
Proven expertise with Cucumber, Selenium/Playwright, REST Assured or similar test automation tools.
Hands on experience with crafting and maintaining testing frameworks like Junit, Selenium (TestNG).
Experience with GitHub Copilot is a plus.
5+ years of test automation development using Java or similar languages, to develop and maintain automated test scripts.
Experience in testing distributed applications at multiple layers of the technology stack.
Experience with defining and configuring test automation pipelines, including integration of automated tests into CI/CD workflows.
Experience with DB/SQL testing and expertise in data comparison tools such as ICEDQ.
Familiarity with Azure cloud technologies, version control systems like Gitlab and CI/CD pipelines.
Practical experience working with both functional and regression testing including test automation within an agile environment.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced agile development environment.
Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria. This includes collaborating closely with squad members to ensure comprehensive test coverage, identifying edge cases, and aligning quality goals with business outcomes .
Identify risks and develop contingency plans in anticipation of quality issues
Proven understanding of software engineering lifecycle to be able to identify quality risks, contribute to test strategy design, and ensure validation activities are aligned with business and technical requirements throughout the development process.
Ability and skills to research and evaluate new testing tools, methodologies and best practices in Quality Engineering.
