Join Fidelity’s Enterprise Infrastructure Operations team as a Principal Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer. In this highly visible, technically advanced role, you will drive stability and innovation across our z/OS mainframe environment—leveraging cutting-edge tools and collaborating with world-class experts to solve and prevent complex performance challenges. You’ll be at the forefront of capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization for one of the industry’s most sophisticated mainframe platforms, supporting mission-critical business applications and infrastructure.

The Expertise You Have and The Skills You Bring

  • Lead Capacity Planning & Performance Tuning: Monitor, analyze, forecast utilization and business volumes. Recommend resource provisioning for mainframe processors and peripherals.

  • Innovate with Modern Tools: Use and develop advanced dashboards (Grafana, Power BI), automate workflows (SAS, R, Python), and fully exploit real-time monitoring (IBM/Broadcom SYSVIEW).

  • Collaborate Across Fidelity: Partner with internal teams and vendors, supporting diverse business and technical units.

  • Deliver Value: Provide technical support, reporting, analysis, and recommendations to ensure optimal performance and capacity for hardware, OS, storage, and applications.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze data, identify trends, and implement enhancements for daily operations and strategic projects.

  • Deep expertise in mainframe capacity and performance engineering within large-scale, complex enterprises.

  • Advanced knowledge of IBM zEnterprise hardware, RMF, SMF, SAS, MXG, Intellimagic, and related tools.

  • Experience with SYSPLEX design, WLM policy tuning, and PR/SM optimization of GP & zIIP configurations.

  • Strong programming skills (SAS/MXG, Python, R, Grafana, Power BI).

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to advancing technology and processes.
