About Technology Enterprise Recovery and Resilience Team.

This role will form a critical part of the Technology Enterprise Resilience team which resides within the Enterprise Resilience function to ensure the effective implementation and ongoing oversight of our Critical & Important Business Services, supporting continuous improvement initiatives in line with our strategic objectives and regulatory expectations. This role will work closely with business & technology partners across the firm globally.

About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Infrastructure Technology Resilience Engineer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to strengthen Fidelity’s network and connectivity resilience posture across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments. This role focuses on engineering resilience, redundancy, and recovery capabilities into global network infrastructures – including WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and Cloud interconnectivity – ensuring that our critical services remain available, secure, and compliant with operational resilience regulations.

You will operate at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and operational resilience, embedding recovery and continuity capabilities into our network design and driving continuous improvement in our readiness for severe and plausible disruptions.

This role requires a combination of deep network engineering expertise, resilience design principles, and regulatory awareness, applying a risk-based approach to enhance resilience across the global network stack. You will assess, design, and implement network resilience strategies – leveraging automation, observability, and testing frameworks to identify vulnerabilities, measure resilience posture, and drive continuous improvement.

Core areas of focus are as follows:

  • Act as a consultative network resilience ENGINEER & SME, driving the embedding of resilient network design principles across technology with focus on:
  • Critical and evolving regulations related to technology and operational resilience.
  • Response readiness for severe incidents such as major network outages, cyberattacks, third-party dependency failures, and global connectivity disruptions.
  • Designing, architecting, and implementing network resilience solutions and recovery outcomes aligned with business continuity objectives and tolerance levels.
  • Advising and guiding technology teams on resilient architecture patterns, such as multi-path connectivity, failover strategies, zero-trust network segmentation, and redundancy design.
  • Partnering with network operations, architecture, and cyber security teams to embed resilience into network topology and design lifecycles.
  • Supporting and leading resilience and recovery testing for network infrastructure across regions and services.
  • Evaluating new network technologies, tools, and automation capabilities to enhance resilience and observability.
  • Collaborating with enterprise architects to embed resilience principles into network DNA and technical standards.
  • Working with key stakeholders across technology and the business to ensure network resilience aligns with impact tolerances and service continuity objectives.
  • Driving automation and data-driven insights through metrics, dashboards, and Power BI reporting to monitor resilience posture and recovery performance.
  • Conducting horizon scanning of emerging technologies, network threats, and dependencies to inform forward resilience strategy.
  • Ensuring network designs and operational procedures comply with FCA, PRA, DORA, and equivalent global regulatory standards.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Strong background in network infrastructure engineering, including design, implementation, and operation of complex, global enterprise networks.
  • Proven experience in network resilience, redundancy, and disaster recovery engineering across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.
    · Expertise in:
  • WAN, LAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN architectures.
  • Cloud networking (AWS / Azure / GCP interconnects, VPN, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute).
  • Network segmentation and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Load balancing, routing, DNS, firewalls, and network security principles
  • Excellent understanding of resilience practices for network infrastructure, including dependency mapping, fault isolation, recovery testing, and automation.
  • Familiarity with operational resilience regulations and their application to network and connectivity services (FCA, PRA, DORA).
  • Proficient in observability, telemetry, and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, NetScout, Splunk, Power BI).
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks for network management.
  • Strong engineering awareness with practical understanding of network fault tolerance and recovery principles.
  • Experience working with and influencing third-party service providers to ensure resilience objectives are met.
  • Detailed understanding of the cyber threat landscape and how it intersects with network resilience strategies.
  • Skilled at producing whitepapers, design documentation, and executive presentations to communicate resilience strategy and findings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret complex data and derive meaningful insights.
  • Effective communicator, capable of engaging with both technical engineers and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates innovation, adaptability, and strong collaboration across teams.
  • Exhibits accountability and commitment to maintaining high standards, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Have worked in technology roles and have an excellent grasp of infrastructure, application deployment, cloud (IaaS & SaaS) and approaches to monitoring / observability
