About your team
Velocity is Fidelity's internal developer portal with the aim of providing a single frictionless front door for all things Engineering! Built on the open-source Backstage framework, Velocity is designed to provide a seamless, efficient, and productive experience for developers.
About your role
You'll build our Internal Developer Platform using TypeScript, React and Node.js while championing modern engineering practices. You'll implement cloud-native solutions on AWS, establish CI/CD pipelines, and foster test-driven development methodologies. By driving technical excellence and mentoring teams in DevOps best practices, you'll directly impact developer productivity across FIL. This role combines hands-on coding with strategic thinking – you'll solve complex challenges involving multiple stakeholders while creating infrastructure that empowers engineering teams to deliver value faster and more reliably.
About you
The successful candidate must possess strong technical understanding of modern web development using TypeScript, Node.js, and React, with proven experience implementing cloud-native solutions on AWS. You should have a track record of delivering high-quality software using DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code. We're looking for someone proficient with testing strategies including unit, integration, and contract testing, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor others.
Experience and Qualifications
- BE / B-Tech / MCA or equivalent
- 5 - 8 years of relevant industry experience in technology
- Experienced in developing high quality software/automation/infrastructure.
- Hands on experience with modern software engineering practices.
- Solid experience of working with product mindset.
- Proven track record of solving complex problems involving multiple stakeholders and business units.
Essential Skills
- Having knowledge, views and at least 2+ years of strong implementation experience on JS/TS, NodeJS and React.
- Having knowledge or implementation experience around Agile, DevOps, CI/CD & GitOps philosophy, tools, frameworks and approaches.
- Hands experience of terraform, cloud services (AWS/Azure) and container technologies (Docker/ECS/K8s/Helm/Registry/Service Discovery)
- Good understanding around components of computer networking (DNS, HTTP, IP, TLS), operating systems, programming languages, Security (OAuth, RBAC, API Security, Scanning, Encryption) etc.
- Understanding of Platform Architecture and Design patterns
- Hands on with development practices like test driven development, integration and contract testing.
- Ability to find solutions, think out of the box and keep yourself up to date with new tools, technologies and approaches.
- A persistent learner, self-motivated, flexible, responsible, and a penchant for quality
