About this role

Overview

As Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG) accelerates Fanatics' mission to build the ultimate digital sports platform, the Platform Engineer III role is foundational to empowering our software engineering teams. Joining OddsFactory, you’ll enhance the productivity, reliability, security, and scalability of software delivery.

OddsFactory powers in‑play features at massive scale (billions of simulations/month). Today we run Windows services on Service Fabric in Azure; we’re accelerating Kubernetes + GitOps (Argo CD) and exploring dual‑cloud opportunities. In this Pipelines‑focused role, you’ll build secure, scalable CI/CD frameworks and developer tooling that streamline deployments and improve code quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain reusable CI/CD templates and workflows in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions (YAML‑first, DRY, versioned).
  • Embed secure‑by‑default and Zero Trust practices in pipelines (secretless with OIDC, least privilege, policy‑as‑code, scanning).
  • Improve developer experience: faster feedback loops, quality gates, ephemeral/preview environments, and great documentation.
  • Instrument pipeline observability (Datadog or equivalent) and define SLOs (queue time, lead time, change fail rate, MTTR) to drive reliability.
  • Automate IaC workflows (Terraform/Terragrunt) and integrate testing, artifact/versioning, and release orchestration.
  • Partner with teams to onboard to golden paths; provide enablement, examples, and reference implementations.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, ensuring platform stability and providing critical support for operational incidents.
  • Occasionally travel for essential offsite meetings, special events, or collaborative team sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or related infrastructure roles.
  • Application development experience (backend or frontend).
  • Practical experience in cloud-native environments (Azure preferred), infrastructure automation, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes or Service Fabric).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code systems (Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, CloudFormation).
  • Proven ability to implement and maintain CI/CD release pipelines.
  • Experience with scripting and programming (.NET preferred; familiarity with Go, Python, PowerShell beneficial).
  • Knowledge of observability tooling, chaos testing, and incident management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to closely collaborate with engineering teams.
  • Highly outcome-oriented, pragmatic, and capable of balancing quality with productivity.
  • Effective communication skills, with experience collaborating across diverse teams.
  • Positive, flexible attitude comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Resilience & Continuity: DR plans for CI/CD (artifact integrity, reproducible pipelines, backup runners/agents); metrics‑driven SLOs and MTTR reduction.
  • Traffic & Policy Plane: Service mesh‑aware rollout strategies (canary/blue‑green) coordinated via pipelines.
  • Packaging & Delivery: Helm/kustomize templating at scale; Argo CD progressive delivery and multi‑cluster deployments; promotion workflows (dev→staging→prod), release automation, and rollback patterns.
  • Secrets & Identity: Secretless builds with OIDC; External Secrets for environments; policy‑as‑code in CI/CD (signing, SBOMs, provenance, guardrails).
  • Familiarity or previous experience within the sports betting industry or strong interest in sports.
  • Experience supporting scalable, real-time, or event-driven systems.
  • Experience in fast-paced or start-up environments.
