About this Unit: 

Are you seeking the opportunity to gain experience in an Extended Recovery and Short Stay unit? If so, our RN's care for adult patients with a wide range of medical needs including conditions such as chest pain, back pain, gastroenteritis, as well as post-procedural and post-surgical patients. This 27-bed unit is fast-paced with an average length of patient stay of 24-36 hours. The unit is focused on continuously improving processes in order to provide an exceptional patient and family experience as well as improve patient flow.  

 

The department is fast paced with many different types of patient populations. Patients are managed by both hospitalists as well as surgeons & interventionists; specialties consulted when needed.  

The culture is one of teamwork & collaboration between ALL members of the team. We have daily huddles with RNs, MDs, Social Work & PT/OT to make sure each team member is working towards the same goal for the patients. The team is very patient centered with Bedside Shift Report, a focus on communication with patient using Care Boards, and a goal to always answer call lights timely for patient satisfaction. Our culture is to give the best care to our patients in the shortest amount of time that is safe & effective for the patient 

  

Schedule: This position is 60 hours every two weeks on night shift (7pm-730am), 12-hour shifts with every third weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). 

 

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)


Required Qualifications

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year experience
