Job Overview

Position Summary

Under general supervision, assists with the day to day operation of the department and provides direct patient care, which includes but is not limited to, accurately administering and scoring routine psychological and neuropsychological tests.

 

Job Expectations

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
  • Administer batteries of interactive psychological and neuropsychological tests to inpatients and outpatients, including individual intelligence tests and a number of other cognitive tests/batteries and self-report and other personality inventories, in an accurate and standardized fashion as directed by the neuropsychologist.
  • Observe, accurately record, and communicate with neuropsychologist regarding patient behavior during the evaluation, encourage patient cooperation, and effectively manage any difficult or problematic behaviors that may arise during the evaluation.
  • Accurately score battery of neuropsychometric tests according to guidelines provided in test manuals or by the neuropsychologist in a timely manner, use appropriate normative data (determined by neuropsychologist), complete protocol forms and data summary sheets, complete appropriate documentation, and engage in quality assurance projects under the direction of the neuropsychologist.
  • Engage in clerical tasks that are necessary to the day to day operation of the department/service including file creation and management/oversight (hard copies and electronically), regularly taking inventory and reordering materials as needed, management and upkeep of test materials and protocols (maintaining test inventory), completion of forms and prior authorizations for testing as directed by neuropsychologist, and infection prevention (i.e., cleaning of surfaces, materials, etc.).
  • Assist neuropsychologist with training and teaching and providing feedback to students, trainees, or other psychometrists in the department regarding standardized test administration, scoring, departmental procedures, and other clerical duties that may be required. Providing supervision for students, trainees, and other psychometrists.
  • Participate in improving organizational performance by recommending projects, tasks, procedures, or approaches for departmental consideration/implementation.

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Neuropsychological/psychological testing
  • Previous experience with psychological or neuropsychometric testing or training/employment as a psychometrist
  • Previous experience working in a hospital setting or with hospital patients/families
