Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Nursing Station Technician at the M Health Fairview Northland Medical Center in Princeton, MN! This position is 48 hours every two weeks on the Day shift, for 12 hour shifts, and every third weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more.

About this Unit:

Are you interested in gaining experience in multiple specialties and working with an outstanding team? Then the Med/Surg Unit might be right for you! At Fairview Northland Medical Center the Med Surg unit consists of medical and surgical, and adult Intensive Care patients. The Med/Surg unit consists of 22 beds and the ICU has 4 beds. We are recognized for having high employee engagement results, high patient experience, and an atmosphere of accountability.

Job Responsibilities:

The Nursing Station Technician (NST) will work under direction of nursing personnel to deliver patient care. Duties may include: patient cares, vitals, bathing, feeding, answering call lights, transporting, care of environment (by stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms). An NST may work as a patient care attendant.

Duties Include:

Performs delegated nursing functions to assigned patients including personal care, ambulation, exercise, nutrition, specimen collection and vital signs.

Performs special procedures (eg: skin care) as defined by patient care unit practice guidelines.

Observes patients and reports any changes in status to appropriate staff.

Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team.

Performs environmental and other responsibilities as assigned.

Accurately maintains the medical record.

Efficiently schedules patient tests and procedures.

Maintains unit communication systems and central desk area.

Actively participates in staff development.

Required Qualifications:

License/Certification/Registration

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.

AND ONE or more of the following:

  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.

Or

  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)

Or

  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.

Or

  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.
