Fairview is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our University of MN Medical Center West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. The Maintenance Engineer operates and maintains the equipment and fixtures within the facility using acceptable work practices and following hospital and departmental guidelines to maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.

 

Position Details

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
  • day/evening/night shift
  • as needed weekend rotation 


Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains various pieces of mechanical and electrical equipment following accepted practices and procedures. These systems include plumbing, controls, HVAC refrigeration and electrical/emergency power.
  • Repairs and maintains patient care equipment to provide a safe environment for patients and comply with the standards of the various regulatory agencies
  • Gains a thorough working knowledge of the major systems within the hospital, and is able to operate them safely and efficiently and troubleshoot problems so they can be reminded with a minimum of down time and distribution of service
  • Repairs, maintains, adjusts and calibrates miscellaneous portable equipment brought to the shop for repair, including but not limited to wheelchairs, carts, kitchen equipment, banomemters, beds, tubes etc.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use blueprints, schematics and technical manuals to trouble-shoot an isolate problems.
  • Performs periodic preventive maintenance on fans, motors, belts, HVAC systems, steam, water, sewer, air and vacuum lines regulatory as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • 3 years Building maintenance, that includes HVAC, electrical, mechanical, EMS, fire systems pumps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical School Graduate of an accredited trade school in refrigeration, electricity, building maintenance or other appropriate course
  • Minnesota Maintenance Electrical License ; Universal Refrigeration Certification
