Role


Fairmarkit is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our ML team and help build intelligent supplier recommendations. Our team develops the core recommendation system that connects buyers with the most relevant suppliers, making sourcing faster and more efficient. We also design the automation logic that powers procurement workflows, reducing manual effort and improving decision-making. Working closely with business and product teams, we tailor our models to customer needs while ensuring the system scales effectively as our platform grows.


Responsibilities


In this role, you will leverage our extensive spend data to build impactful ML solutions that enhance supplier recommendations and sourcing automation. Your responsibilities will include:



  • Shaping ML strategy - Contribute to defining and executing the ML engineering strategy to improve recommendations.

  • Building data pipelines - Identify valuable data sources, develop pipelines, and process data to enhance model performance.

  • Developing & improving models - Train new ML models to refine existing algorithms and explore new approaches.

  • Deploying & monitoring - Bring models to production, ensure stability, and monitor performance to drive continuous improvements.

  • Ensuring quality & explainability - Design metrics to evaluate system effectiveness and develop tools that communicate model decisions to customers and stakeholders.

  • Run A/B tests - Design experiments, define reliable metrics, and help shaping a structured evaluation system for model improvements.

  • Collaborating with product teams - Work closely with business and product teams to translate customer needs into ML-driven solutions.

  • Owning end-to-end development - Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance ML systems that evolve with our growing platform.


Requirements 


Hard skills:



  • You are a results-oriented individual with proven experience in delivering ML/AI solutions in production.

  • You have strong expertise in building Recommender Systems and working with NLP solutions.

  • You excel at Python and have proficiency with any variant of SQL, and feel comfortable with the transformation workflows such as dbt and the big data stack like Spark.

  • You have delivered production ML systems and conducted A/B tests.

  • You are familiar with building FastAPI services for deploying ML models in a microservice architecture.

  • Experience designing and implementing a Feature Store (both offline and online layers), including feature definitions, data ingestion, and governance, is a strong plus

  • You have managed and automated ML pipelines using orchestration tools like Argo Workflows or Airflow.

  • Strong data engineering foundations - building scalable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and optimizing data models for ML use cases.

  • You are a strong communicator who translates intuition into data-driven hypotheses and impactful engineering solutions.

  • Bonus points if you are well-versed in the latest advancements in LLMs and generative AI.

  • Ability to plan strategically, accurately estimate workload, set priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
