Position Overview

The Lead Medical Manager Screening, Canada at Exact Sciences works closely with Associate Medical Director Canada, local MSL and International Headquarters to support the delivery of medical affairs activities in Canada for screening solutions, mainly Cancerguard. This position reports to Associate Director Medical Affairs, Canada.

The role crucially supports the Screening Solutions cross-functional team in Canada by providing medical and scientific information and education through fair-balanced scientific exchange with healthcare professionals and medical stakeholders. The focus of this position is general cancer screening and early detection across multiple tumor types, engaging both oncology specialists and general practitioners involved in screening pathways.

The role also supports evidence generation activities, including real-world evidence and investigator-initiated studies, to advance the clinical and health-system value of cancer screening solutions.

This position requires established scientific credibility to interact with key thought leaders and centers of excellence across Canada.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Identify and support relationships with national and regional medical thought leaders in cancer screening, oncology, and primary care across Canada
  • Support the execution of the medical affairs strategy for cancer screening tests with focus on Cancerguard in Canada, aligned with regional and global objectives
  • Provide scientific exchange and medical education in response to unsolicited requests in academic, community, and healthcare settings
  • Support identification of evidence gaps related to clinical utility, screening implementation, and outcomes that may warrant further study
  • Act as a medical affairs contact for investigators interested in real-world evidence or investigator-initiated studies
  • Support the planning and delivery of advisory boards, when external advice is needed
  • Provide medical and scientific input into reimbursement and health system discussions related to cancer screening
  • Support medical activities at scientific congresses and educational initiatives
  • Deliver medical training and scientific updates to internal stakeholders (Marketing, Market Access, Sales, etc.)
  • Provide medical input into Canadian-specific commercial materials and strategies, ensuring compliance
  • Identify key patient advocacy groups and build partnerships to support key screening initiatives
  • Assure adherence to corporate policies, Canadian regulations, and industry guidelines
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners as a strong team contributor
  • Ability to travel as business dictates, up to 30%, may include overnight/weekend travel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree: MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, or related roles within pharma, biotech, diagnostics, or medical devices
  • Background or experience in oncology, cancer screening, diagnostics, or population health preferred
  • Experience interacting with healthcare professionals; developing KOL experience is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system
  • Experience in launching new diagnostics or pharmaceutical products is an asset
  • Excellent English communication skills required; French is an asset
  • Eligibility to work in Canada without sponsorship
