Wage Range: $33.89 - $54.23 per hour
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. Job Summary:

Responsible for curriculum development and training for Childbirth & Early Parenting (CEPE) prenatal and postnatal education offerings, as well as serve as primary liaison to OB clinics, the Family Maternity Center (FMC), Healthline, and CEPE Department, ensuring a high standard of education for class participants. Assists department leadership by functioning as a subject matter expert.
 
Primary Duties:  
  1. Responsible for research and development of CEPE education curriculum, and staff development and training.
  2. Serves as liaison to Women’s and Children’s Services and CEPE department, as well as functioning as CEPE representative for maternity/OB/multi-disciplinary ‘action groups’ to promote internal practice improvements, foster and maintain partnerships with health organizations, community and national agencies and business related to childbirth and early parenting.
  3. Responsible for promoting CEPE program to internal and external partners on a local, regional or national basis as needed through conferences and committees.
  4. Plans and coordinates the development, implementation and execution of sub-programs, special projects, and other initiatives designed to achieve the overall mission, goals, and objectives of leadership and the CEPE department.
  5. Oversees and administers all facets of the day-to-day class content, training and educational components for CEPE instructors.
  6. Assists Manager in planning, developing and implementing funding and/or resource opportunities for program activities.
  7. Creates and maintains partnerships with community programs and agencies to develop new educational opportunities to improve the reach of our services and offer educational services to a growing and diverse population.
  8. Creating, developing and promoting content for brand new educational program at EvergreenHealth satellite campuses as needed
  9. Finding new locations for classes as need/opportunity arises. Including creating programs and content that is best practice but respects the culture and community where the class is offered.
  10. Provides and/or coordinates the provision of technical /birth-related guidance consultation, related support to clientele within area of program focus; provides day-to day problem solving as necessary to resolve program related needs/issues.
  11. Creates, produces and delivers a range of promotional, educational and informational presentations, and/or resource materials related to classes or other program related activities and initiatives.
  12. Assists Manager in compiling/assessing analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents comprehensive program reports and evaluations to Manager as needed.
  13. Completes curriculum training requirements for CEPE as identified.
  14. Assists department leadership by functioning as the subject matter expert on assigned area of instruction.
  15. Partners with staff/Medical team advisors and providers to ensure curriculum remains up-to-date based on new clinical and technological advancements.
  16. Responsible for class coordination and implementation, coordinating with Healthline department and Room Scheduling.
  17. Responsible for teaching classes related to childbirth preparation and/or early parenting, as part of the Childbirth & Early Parenting Education program at EvergreenHealth.
  18. Prepares for teaching according to the CEPE curriculum as outlined in the CEPE Instructor Manual. Utilizes teaching materials, including handouts, as designated therein. (Teaching must not fall outside the designated curriculum outlines, including content, topics, recommended resources, and audiovisual aids, including handouts.)
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.
                       
           
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
 
REQUIRED for the position:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, child Development, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing or related field
  • 5 years of experience in teaching childbirth and early parenting education classes.
  • Required certifications-if applicable to role:
    • Current ICEA Certified Childbirth Educator (ICCE) by the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA)
    • -OR- Current Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator by Lamaze International (formerly ASPO Certified Childbirth Educator (ACCE) by the American Society for Psychoprophylaxis in Obstetrics (ASPO))
    • -OR- Great Starts Birth and Family Education Certified/Parent Trust for Washington Children Postpartum Group Facilitator Certification/training or equivalent, if applicable to role
    • Postpartum doula certification (PALA, DONA, or other approved organizations)
 
    • Evergreen Perinatal Education’s ‘Foundations for Best Practice in Lactation Care’ or similar course (ex: 48 hours of content + lactation education certification or the online UCSD course for Lactation Education Counselor certification with 45 hours of content), if applicable to role.
    • Previous experience in adult or child education or public speaking
    • Ability to communicate clinical/educational knowledge to learners, including patients and other class registrants, student observers and/or assistants, nursing and medical staff, and families
    • Involvement in maternal-child settings
    • Current Healthcare Providers BLS- American Heart Association by start date
 
 DESIRED for the position:
  • Lactation Education Certified (LEC), or within 6 months of hire; must be updated every five years
