As a Fitter, you serve as a role model for safety and are accountable for maintaining and troubleshooting machines and equipment. Whilst striving for zero breakdown and focusing on reducing downtime. The Fitter supports, suggests, and implements improvements, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and legal requirements during maintenance work.
About the Role
The Fitter is responsible for executing maintenance activities on the site. This role involves maintaining machines according to preventive and predictive maintenance concepts. The Fitter is tasked with troubleshooting and solving problems using the Daily Directional Setting approach.
The successful incumbent will take ownership of their work area, ensuring that machines are maintained at Basic Standards Condition, and that standard technical documentations are readily available. Work securely with expert maintenance tools, such as Maintenance Connection-PMs, Technical OEM Manuals & SOPs and perform thorough Root Cause Analysis for technical and process-related issues.
What You Will Do
Install, inspect, service and repair multidisciplinary machines and equipment on the site;
Ensure that serviced and installed/commissioned plant and equipment conforms to specifications before being handed over to production;
Record the service and or repair of all the work carried out on a job card;
Perform mechanical equipment fault finding duties on the problematic machines, diagnose and resolve issues efficiently to reduce production downtime;
Complete a root cause analysis for failure and recommendations for plant reliability improvements to enhance equipment reliability and productivity;
Work on own and as part of a team, carrying out routine PM inspections, maintenance and repairs on equipment and submit the PM and job card when repair work is complete;
Work closely with production and quality to resolve challenges and improve processes.
Always maintain a neat and safe work environment;
Ensure that safety procedures are followed and adhered to, following a Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and risk assessment procedures as required;
Assist with site/building maintenance and other duties required by the designated departmental manager;
Be available for stand-by duties.
Who You Are
Must have matric and with a valid Fitter Trade Test qualification;
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment;
Expertise in using hand and power tools for fitting and assembly tasks;
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities;
Excellent organizational, time management skills with strong attention to detail;
Be a team player, motivated self-starter, and willing to learn.
