Job Summary:
The Patient Safety and Quality System Coordinator performs a wide range of duties to assist the eSafe System Project Manager, provide general system support for the Patient Safety Team/Patient Safety and Quality Team, coordination of eSafe user access and modifications based on requests and Security Administration System employee additions and changes, patient safety event data integrity validation and monitoring, assist with development of patient safety event reports, and any specified projects and/or committee support functions.
In addition, this role assumes expanded oversight of regulatory compliance and accreditation readiness in relation to patient safety and quality. The coordinator supports DNV and CMS survey preparation, participates in tracer activities, and assists with the development and review of policies and procedures to ensure best practice in patient safety methodology and compliance with accrediting body standards. The position also serves as a liaison across departments to ensure accurate documentation and timely follow-up on patient safety events, assists and organizes response activities for adverse events and near misses, and provides data-driven insights to support root cause analyses and improvement planning. The coordinator contributes to staff education regarding patient safety protocols, system use, and compliance expectations, helping to advance a culture of safety and accountability across the organization.
Education:
Required:
- Associate degree in a business or healthcare related field
Preferred:
- Bachelors in a business or health related field
Experience:
Required:
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong Microsoft Office computer skills, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements (i.e. DNV, CMS, State, etc.)
- Proficient in data analysis, eSafe reporting system, and healthcare quality tools
- Effective communicator with an ability to work collaboratively across department and levels of leadership.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001: criteria
- Experience with electronic medical record chart review
Preferred:
- 5 years experience in a health care office setting
- Experience supporting and/or leading safety initiatives, event investigation, surveys, internal audits, and quality improvement projects.
