About this role

Job Summary:
Strengthens and enhances operational performance goals and outcomes through alignment of nursing care across the Erlanger Health Centers and identification of opportunities for appropriate standardization and directing the delivery of nursing care, treatment and services.

Promotes the adoption of evidence based clinical guidelines and consistent standards to reduce variation in practice to achieve patient care quality goals and to establish guidelines for the delivery of nursing care, treatment or services.

Provides guidance to assure compliant nursing structures, staffing and processes for compliance to accreditation, certification and licensure.

Provides leadership and direction for the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention, and recognition of excellence in nursing including recommendations regarding compensation and benefit programs for nursing staff and to provide direction to the implementation of nursing policies and procedures, nursing standards and nurse staffing plan(s).

Acts as a coach and mentor to nurses, while promoting professional growth and accountability within facility MA, LPN, students and colleagues.

Collaborates with the Erlanger Chief Nursing Officer to meet or exceed annual and long term performance goals and outcomes in all key result areas in accordance with the Erlanger Health System's policies and procedures.

Serves as a clinical representative for community, regional and national organizations. and committees as directed.

Collaborates with local, regional and national schools of nursing to foster relationships and assist with creating recruitment pipelines.

The Nurse Manager is responsible for planning, administration and monitoring of consistent readiness of all quality management, regulatory requirements and quality improvement processes for the Community Health Centers.

The Nurse Manager will assist with oversight of monitoring of data for submission to all regulatory agencies in a timely manner to maintain nursing compliance

The Nurse Manager will provide continuous quality based education and updates to the Executive Quality Council and to the board of the Community Health Centers on an ongoing basis.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices� patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Education:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing or nurse training/accrediting program.

Must obtain Registered Nurse (RN) licensure within 12 months of employment.

Preferred:
BSN or Equivalent of nursing leadership experience
MS

Experience:
Required:
3 years' experience in a hospital, ambulatory care facility, or equivalent nursing leadership environment.

Preferred:
Experience in Quality Management, JC, OSHA, CMS, HRSA and State regulatory agencies.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.

The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Department Position Summary:
Serves as the point person for the Nursing Clinical Excellence, including leading initiatives involved with HRSA/NCQA/TJC/DNV preparation and application, the FQHC Nursing Strategic Plan, Shared Governance, integration teams, and other industry best practices related to the nursing function.

In collaboration with the Medical Director, works closely with Quality Improvement, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, and nursing personnel in development of a just culture for identification of concerns and implementation of remedies to create a safer environment for patients and coworkers. Creates and participates on high-performing multidisciplinary teams.

Assists the Finance Department in the establishment of nursing budgets and for meeting or exceeding established targets. Evaluates opportunities to reduce expenses without sacrificing quality.

Accountable for promoting and conducting organization-wide clinical performance improvement activities in patient satisfaction, the delivery of care, and in enhanced coworker engagement.

Works closely with FQHC Leadership in retention and recruitment activities for nursing. Reviews information relative to turnover and nursing vacancies and provides appropriate leadership and guidance.

Participates with Erlanger Health Center governance, managerial, clinical, and medical staff leaders in decision-making activities for the Community Health Centers. Represents nursing at Community Board meetings, and other pertinent hospital and health system committee meetings. Aligns activities with Health Center Leadership to ensure establishment and achievement of system goals.

Supports the mission and vision of the Erlanger Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.

Understands and is committed to helping the Erlanger Healthcare System and its associated facilities to achieve its goals.

Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times.

Adheres to the EHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct.
