About this role

Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions is seeking a Sales Assistant for the Sales and Marketing Department to support operations out of  the Flowood, MS, or Memphis, TN area. The Sales Assistant provides administrative and customer service support to the sales team, helping to ensure effective communication with clients, accurate processing of orders, and efficient coordination of sales activities. This position contributes to the company's mission by supporting asphalt and emulsions sales growth, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • 1–3 years of administrative, sales support, or customer service experience (preferably in construction materials, asphalt, emulsions, or related industries).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Team-oriented, with a proactive and customer-focused mindset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the sales team, including preparing proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Manage customer inquiries, coordinate responses, and ensure follow-up with clients.
  • Process sales orders, confirm delivery details, and track order status in coordination with logistics and operations.
  • Maintain and update customer databases, price lists, and sales records.
  • Support the preparation and organization of customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Assist with market research, competitor tracking, and gathering of customer feedback.
  • Coordinate with technical and laboratory teams to ensure customers receive timely product information and samples.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales activity reports for management review.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the sales team's success.
