About this role

Under the direction of the Office Manager, the Coder/Nursing Intake Specialist provides effective utilization of ICD10, HCPCS and CPT to ensure proper diagnosis coding of all MHH patients. Provides services related to the initial intake of the admission process, gathering information which enables the agency to determine the patient has a qualified need for admission to the home health program. Assumes the day-to-day responsibility for receiving information and coordinating the paraprofessional’s schedule. Functions as a primary contact for referral services, as well as calls from physicians regarding patient orders and lab results. Provides administrative assistance and nursing support for the office by providing a wide range of complex duties, including patient scheduling, record -keeping, filing, computer work and receiving orders. Possesses a high degree of computer knowledge and interpersonal skills when dealing with Associates/Organizational departments, patients/family members, insurances, physicians, vendors and others as needed. Demonstrates proficient communication, organization, and work management skills in a highly confidential and sensitive nature. Provides utilization review for appropriateness of patients per guidelines according to established criteria. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. Must exhibit F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

 

Qualifications

Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a nurse.
