JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Gift Shop Manager, provides customer service in a friendly, courteous, professional manner. Must express interest in Gift Shop and sales. Requires math skills necessary to execute sales and records. Must have the ability to get along with people. Exhibits the values of F.I.R.S.T. (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet customers and encourage sales by being attentive to customers and knowledgeable about merchandise.
  • Balance cash drawer designated “Associate”.
  • Close and/or open the Gift Shop according to outlined procedure in Gift Shop Manual.
  • Follow policies and procedures for store operations as outlined in the Gift Shop Manual.
  • Check and restock merchandise when necessary, including but not limited to: sundries, cards and stationary, baby items, animals, toys, candy, and gift items.
  • Communicate with buyers and the Gift Shop Manager about reorders, problems, requests, and any information pertinent to the operation of the Gift Shop.
  • Straighten and dust shelves in all departments.
  • Mark, remark, and/or stock the Gift Shop as requested by the Gift Shop Manager.
  • Maintain a professional, friendly atmosphere in the Gift Shop. Wear Auxiliary smock.
  • Maintains constant awareness of customers in the Gift Shop at all times to deter shoplifters and shoplifting opportunities.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.
  • Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance.
  • Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to incorporating the core concepts of patient family centered care into practice (dignity, respect, information sharing, and participation).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the development and implementation of shared governance across the Organization.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Clean, air-conditioned gift shop environment. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs.

Patients, patient families, Associates, public at large.

 

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Calculator and cash register. Credit card machine.
