About this role

Job Summary:
Performs technical procedures to obtain diagnostic exams of various portions of the body using recognized radiographical techniques and CT protocols to assist physicians in diagnosis of diseases and injuries with a minimum of ionizing radiation being applied. Exhibits the values of F.I.R.S.T. (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepares and performs patient procedures following approved protocols.
  2. Performs patient examination to ensure the delivery of quality care.
  3. Maintains accurate departmental records.
  4. Prioritizes outpatients, inpatients, and ED patients to achieve ultimate outcomes.
  5. Maintains professional development and education.
  6. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
  7. Orders all supplies and keeps stock of supplies.
  8. Assists in the clinical training of radiologic technology students.
  9. Responsible for Radiation Protection for self, patients, and general public using ALARA principles.
  10. Responsible for checking Physician orders and ensuring appropriate documentation for all patients.
  11. Considers the age of the patient served, applies knowledge of growth and development and age-specific techniques through the life span (neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) in planning and implementing care.
  12. Demonstrates a commitment to accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.
  13. Competent in starting IV’s, maintain IV’s, check charts, checking orders and creatinine.
  14. Perform and understand significance of creatinine testing.
  15. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization.
  16. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance.
  17. Demonstrates a commitment to incorporating the core concepts of patient family centered care into practice (dignity, respect, information sharing, and participation). 
  18. Demonstrates a commitment to the development and implementation of shared governance across the Organization.
  19. Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort:
Works in a radiation exposure area. Exposure to infectious materials, cuts, and abrasions from equipment. A flexible work schedule is required. Constant physical activity. Strenuous activity involved with moving equipment and patients. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.
 
Contacts with Others:
Patients, visitors, medical staff, and all other departments within the facility. Assists in troubleshooting problems of scanner.
Qualifications

Minimum of three (3) years as staff radiographer or has taken the CT Registry.
