Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

We’re seeking an innovative Research Scientist to drive new product development and support sustaining projects within our dental chemical consumables portfolio. You will lead feasibility work, run experiments, validate product performance, and contribute expertise to design control, risk management, and strategic category planning. This role requires strong scientific skills, independent execution of research plans, and consistent compliance with quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively seeking new technologies, and product features as part of innovation activities for the assigned product category and other dental chemical consumables products that could translate into new product offerings.

  • Create research activities outline (design of experiments) and schedule according to the company’s timetable and establish daily or weekly routines necessary to meet the project timetable with limited collaboration with supervisor.

  • Developed in-depth knowledge and good understanding (Subject Matter Expert /SME) of the assigned category of the industry.

  • Participate in the planning of category strategic roadmap.

  • Participate in design control/design change project as R&D representative within the assigned product category with guidance from senior member.

  • Prepared and execute NPD tollgate and design change activities (example: test methods, design verification protocol and report, ECR memo, etc) with limited guidance from senior members.

  • Lead NPD feasibility work and provide support on sustaining project at low to moderate complexity.

  • Represent R&D in product risk management activities (documentation of risk identification, mitigation verification, etc)

  • Carries out experiments using appropriate equipment, techniques, and protocols.

  • Applies good laboratory practices.

  • Lead and/or execute experiments that scientifically confirm product performance, reliability, and shelf life.

  • Identifies deficiencies and modifies/improves existing procedures.

  • Expected to participate with significant contribution in at least a combination of two product launches or life-cycle management (sustaining) project with medium impact/complexity level.

  • Applies scientific theory to reach conclusions based on data analysis.

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures including quality, complaint handling, and safety.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience (minimum of one of the following):

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, polymer, or related fields and a minimum of 10 years within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, at least 5 years in the dental industry required.

  • Master’s degree in chemistry, polymer, or related fields and a minimum of 5 years of industrial laboratory experience is required, at least 3 years within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry required.

  • Doctoral degree in chemistry, polymer, or related fields is required. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Skilled in conducting standard chemical or physical testing required.

  • Experience in applying good laboratory practices required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel required.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English required.

  • Good interpersonal and collaborative skills are required.

  • Good organizational and time management skills is required.

  • Ability to prioritize is required.

  • Work in a chemical laboratory and/or manufacturing environment with the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.

$106,600 - $153,400
