Position Overview 

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing Ensemble’s enterprise data engineering strategy. You will design and deliver scalable, high‑performing data solutions that enable advanced analytics, operational intelligence, and strategic decision‑making across the organization.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership by developing reusable components, defining engineering best practices, and guiding architectural decisions. You’ll influence team direction through hands‑on design, deep code reviews, and mentorship of engineers. Your contributions will directly accelerate our long‑term technology transformation and data platform modernization efforts.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and API integrations to support increasing data volume and complexity.
  • Translate business and product needs into technical solutions and delivery plans that provide frequent, high‑quality value.
  • Contribute to engineering excellence through code reviews, hands‑on design, and adoption of best practices.
  • Implement data quality, monitoring, and reliability processes to ensure trusted production data across the organization.
  • Recommend and apply architectural patterns that enhance performance, scalability, and alignment with enterprise platforms.

Qualifications 

Required Skills & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of coding experience with Microsoft SQL.
  • 3+ years working with big data technologies including but not limited to Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Dataflows, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus) with a willingness and ability to learn new ones.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering fundamentals: testing automation, code reviews, telemetry, iterative delivery and DevOps
  • Experience with polyglot storage architectures including relational, columnar, key-value, graph or equivalent
  • Expertise in working with Delta Lake, Parquet, and data lake storage patterns in ADLS.
  • Experience delivering applications using componentized and distributed architectures using event driven patterns
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical, globally distributed audiences
  • Solid foundations in formal architecture, design patterns and best practices
  • Experience working with healthcare datasets
  • Very strong attention to detail
