This role is bursting with opportunity for the right person. As a General Yard Operative, you will develop fundamental knowledge, skills and expertise throughout your career. We will support you with all the training you need to be successful such as upskilling you to operate our plant. So, with the right attitude this will give you the opportunity to progress with your career.
What You Will Be Doing:
This role has a variety of responsibilities to keep you busy throughout the day.
As General Yard Operative at EMR you will be responsible for picking and sorting different types of scrap materials, as well as keeping the site clean, organised, and well maintained. They operate machinery to move materials around the yard and assist with loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently. As part of your role, you will carry out pre-checks on equipment to ensure it is fit for purpose and inspect incoming scrap loads to assess their quality. You may also act as a yard marshal, directing site traffic and ensuring that health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Whilst supporting depot management with day-to-day requirements.
About You:
You are responsible, proactive, and safety-conscious, taking pride in your work and contributing positively to the smooth running of the scrap site. You are organised and diligent when picking and sorting materials and consistently maintain high standards across the site, working confidently with machinery and taking care when loading and unloading vehicles while always prioritising safety and efficiency. If you’ve got a ‘can do’ attitude, are a strong team player, enjoy being hands-on, have good customer service skills, and are comfortable working outdoors in all conditions within an industrial environment, then this role will be right up your street!
