The Principal AI and ML Engineer, will serve as a technical leader in the Empower GenAI Platform, guiding the design, implementation, and GenAI and ML capabilities. This role will work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams including Architecture, DevOps, Innovation Lab and Value Streams to create GenAI and ML solutions for the Enterprise.

What you will do:

• Lead engineering decisions and provide technical leadership within the GenAI team.
• Research technological patterns, technologies, and products, and assess third-party and open source tools to shape the strategic GenAI and ML platform roadmap.
• Experiment with emerging technologies with a rigorous focus on business value, and generate Enterprise scale solutions and capabilities
• Design effective solutions with well understood tradeoffs that meet business requirements, adapting to changing priorities and proposing new approaches for a fast-changing environment.
• Partner with architecture and security to apply Empower security controls and guidelines in design and implementation, and consult with production teams delivering solutions for the platform.
• Improve development processes, culture, and tools, including designing and developing CI/CD automated delivery pipelines, working iteratively and transparently, and mentoring engineers across geographically dispersed teams.

What you will bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including AI and machine learning.
• Deep experience with cloud platforms and native capabilities across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proven experience designing, building, and delivering emerging technologies, including AI/ML, using serverless (Lambda with event sources) and microservices.
• Strong software engineering skills, including object-oriented programming in at least one language (Java, C#, Ruby, Python) and experience with a high-level language and web framework (NodeJS with Express, Hapi, or similar).
• Experience with cloud architecture patterns/frameworks (for example AWS Well Architected Framework), DevOps processes and tools, automated testing, modern integrations (API Gateway/Web Services, messaging, REST, plus exposure to SOAP), and working knowledge of web technologies and AWS databases (RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache) including schema design.

What will set you apart:

• Experience coaching and managing engineering and QA teams.
• AWS solutions, developer or ML AI certification.

Base Salary Range

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
