Description

The Business Analyst II – Data Analysis Focus plays a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs, data quality, and information systems across the enterprise. This position is responsible for eliciting project requirements, analyzing business processes, and supporting technology solutions that need to be implemented while also performing complex data joining, mapping, and normalization activities essential for organizational decision-making.

In addition to core business analysis responsibilities, this role provides hands-on data analysis and remediation expertise, ensuring that data from multiple systems can be aligned, transformed, and leveraged for accuracy, reporting, and operational efficiency. The analyst serves as a key resource in supporting system transitions, improving data quality, and ensuring stakeholders have consistent, reliable data. This position requires strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Why This Role Is Needed

The organization has identified critical data quality challenges arising from multiple systems with mismatched keys, inconsistent record structures, and significant manual reconciliation needs. This role provides essential support to:

  • Join and analyze cross-system data efficiently.
  • Normalize records and create mapping structures for enterprise platforms.
  • Reduce manual cleanup efforts during transitions (e.g., ServiceNow migration).
  • Provide leadership with accurate, consolidated analysis for prioritization and reporting.

This position ensures the organization can make informed decisions backed by reliable, integrated data while maintaining strong business analysis capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Analysis

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to define business objectives, requirements, and functional specifications for new optimization and project requests.
  • Analyzes, documents, and refines business processes and workflows.
  • Assists in the development and refinement of technology plans and strategic initiatives.
  • Translates business needs into technical requirements for cross-functional teams.
  • Supports system implementations, enhancements, and integration efforts.
  • Ensures business/project requirements are traceable to allow due diligence and project implementation to occur for eventual deployment.
  • Monitors the optimization/project queue to ensure continued alignment with organization’s priorities.

Data Analysis & Data Quality

  • Joins, maps, and normalizes data across multiple systems (e.g., Censinet, Kinetic, ServiceNow).
  • Creates and maintains crosswalk tables supporting key identifier alignment across platforms.
  • Runs scripts, tools, or processes to merge, transform, or analyze datasets.
  • Conducts data quality assessments to identify inconsistencies, mismatches, or incomplete records.
  • Supports backlog and data cleanup activities—especially for system transitions such as ServiceNow.
  • Performs analysis to support prioritization, reporting, and decision-making for leadership.
  • Collaborates with technical teams to ensure data structures and transformations align with business needs.

Collaboration & Support

  • Acts as a liaison among departmental stakeholders, business units, and technical teams.
  • Communicates findings, insights, and recommendations in clear, actionable terms.
  • Ensures high levels of client satisfaction by delivering reliable, validated data and business insights.
  • May mentor or assist less experienced analysts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business management, data analytics, or related field.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience combining business analysis and data analysis responsibilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to join and map complex datasets across multiple platforms.
  • Experience with data normalization, crosswalk development, and resolving mismatched identifiers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to articulate business needs and translate them into actionable technical requirements.
  • Experience using scripts or tooling (e.g., Python, SQL, ETL tools) to manipulate and combine datasets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in enterprise environments involving multi-system integrations.
  • Background in data quality improvement projects or large-scale data cleanup.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Censinet, Kinetic, or similar platforms.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience supporting IT transformation initiatives.
