Description

The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Emory Healthcare. We are currently seeking a Assistant Director of Advancement and Alumni Services.

 

This position will support Emory College of Arts and Sciences and play a critical role in advancing fundraising, constituent relationships, and strategic priorities of the College and AAE. The Assistant Director of Advancement and Alumni Services is an integral member of the team charged to meet a unit fundraising goal of between $35-50M annually. She/he will drive collaborative relationships within the division and within Emory College to advance fundraising and alumni engagement for strategic priorities. This position will report to the Senior Associate Director of Advancement and Alumni Services.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates operational support for an advancement and alumni engagement program in a school or unit.
  • Develops plans and objectives to ensure success of the program while working with departments within the school or unit as well as central service units to build mutually beneficial relationships, improve communication and collaborative teamwork, and increase campus understanding of advancement and alumni engagement processes.
  • Writes/creates briefings, reports, letters, and other materials for the team.
  • Manages multiple projects supporting the strategic goals of the school/unit.
  • Provides guidance with collecting and routing data for updates in CRM system, and ensuring gifts and records are processed appropriately.
  • May provide administrative and event support.
  • May administer budgets.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

In addition to the duties outlined above, the Assistant Director may be required to:

  • Assist in the development, facilitation, or management of fundraising efforts, alumni engagement, and program objectives.
  • Provide onboarding support for new staff members.
  • Manage calendars, travel, or complex scheduling for members of the team.
  • Lead coordination of travel, scheduling, briefing support for the Dean of Emory College or other academic leadership or faculty.
  • Represent the department or serve as primary contact working with other departments across the division/University.
  • This position requires coming in person two days a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelors and two years of experience in an office setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate a complex work environment.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent customer service, the ability to work collaboratively, and comfort working with ambiguity.
  • Experience managing budgets and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
