Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for medical staff development and liaison activities designed to make Emory Health Care the preferred physician practice environment.
  • Develops an ongoing communications program to strengthen medical staff/hospital relations.
  • Creates a positive working environment and provides a routine means for soliciting physician input.
  • Conducts regular meetings with physicians and their office managers to identify and address issues involving medical staff retention.
  • Communicates physician feedback regarding operational issues to appropriate departments and provides timely feedback to physicians.
  • Coordinates medical staff communications with the hospital's Chief Operating Officer, Chief Quality Officer, Medical Director, and Public Relations when appropriate.
  • Participates in and monitors the status of activities related to the development or renovation of physician office space.
  • Develops and administers new physician orientation programs and assists in assimilating new physicians into the medical staff as soon as possible.
  • Maintains Medical Staff Plan. Supports private practice recruitment efforts.
  • Develops and coordinates efforts to address medical staff issues that require planning and involvement of multiple parties.
  • Coordinates the development of medical staff and office management in-service programs.
  • Provides on-going communication of patient satisfaction surveys and related data to medical staff and follows up as appropriate on opportunities for improvement and coordinates with internal Operations Improvement Department.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Develops, coordinates and assists marketing and communications activities regarding Emory Heart Center sponsored events, community outreach and continuing medical education opportunities and open provider and nonprovider positions in participation with Emory Marketing.
  • Communicates Medical Staff Plan requirements to medical staff and identifies and facilitates opportunities for medical staff expansion.
  • Supports private practice recruitment efforts.
  • Develops and coordinates efforts to address medical staff Issues that require planning and involvement of multiple parties.
  • Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development.
  • Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Controls and maintains records of Section recruitment, including expenditures; informs Section and Division leadership regularly of the status of candidates.
  • Compiles reports and analyzes recruitment and credentialing progress.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
  • Five years of directly related professional work experience.
  • Education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge of physician practice strategies for growth.
  • Planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage many different projects at once.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
