Description

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer serves as a technical solution driver responsible for designing, and delivering scalable cloud solutions across Emory Healthcare's enterprise and cloud footprint. This role drives the modernization of on‑premises environments by leading end‑to‑end workload migrations into Microsoft Azure, ensuring secure, resilient, and high‑performing cloud architectures.

The engineer will design and implement core Azure services—including networking, storage, backup, site recovery, identity, and governance—while establishing best practices for cloud automation. A strong focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is essential, leveraging tools such as ARM/Bicep, and Terraform/Ansible, utilizing scripting skills in Powershell, Bash, or Python to build repeatable, compliant, and fully automated environments.

This position also plays a key role in DevOps enablement, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, integrating cloud infrastructure with Azure DevOps, and championing automation across the development lifecycle. 

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys solving large‑scale infrastructure challenges.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for leading the design, management, and maintenance of server systems and infrastructure for both enterprise and cloud environments.
  • Ensure server systems are secure, stable, and highly available.
  • Subject matter expert for enterprise server management tools and possesses advanced scripting and automation skills.
  • Expert in troubleshooting both Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Planning, deployment, and ongoing support for enterprise server infrastructure to ensure optimum performance and scalability.
  • Possess an expert knowledge of enterprise backup solutions, performance monitoring tools, and cloud-native services.
  • This role requires a blend of technical skills, collaboration, and an understanding of both hardware and software systems.
  • Includes after-hours maintenance and on-call rotations to support critical tier1 systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams for capacity planning, focusing on future scalability and resource optimization across all environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Azure Cloud Engineering experience and certification AZ-104
  • Azure subnets, Vnets, NSG's, Azure load balancing, Azure NetApp storage, Azure backups, site recovery, log monitoring, analytics, Disaster Recovery
  • Migrating workloads from on prem to Azure
  • Terraform and Ansible automation tools both ideal, but will consider experience in others.
  • Jira/Agile Azure DevOps experience
  • Scripting experience with either PowerShell, Bash, or Python

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline and five years Infrastructure server administration experience OR seven years of Infrastructure server engineering experience.
