The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott, College of Aviation, invites applications for Adjunct Faculty in support of our B.S. degrees in Applied Meteorology, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Air Traffic Management, and Aviation Stress Management. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Arizona campus is respected worldwide for cutting-edge instruction and training for tomorrow’s aviation, aerospace, security and intelligence leaders. Prescott is a mile-high city and its climate reflects seasonable weather excellent for flying. Daytime averages are 80°F in the summer and 45°F in the winter. At 5,000 ft. above sea level, it boasts a mild climate, clean air, pristine wilderness areas, and nearby national forests. The university is a small, private, residential university in the mountains of Arizona with approximately 3,500 students. Staff/faculty/student interaction is highly valued and is a central theme of our campus. It is located 100 miles north of Phoenix and 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon.

Applied Meteorology teaching assignments may include, but not be limited to, Survey of Meteorology, Aviation Weather, Satellite and Radar Weather Interpretation and Survey of Meteorology Lab. The selected candidate must have a Master’s Degree, preferably in Meteorology or Aviation- Weather related field. A Ph.D./doctoral degree and teaching experience is highly desirable.

Unmanned Aerial Systems teaching assignments may include, but not limited to core courses which focus on the technologies of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs); governmental and private sector applications of UAS to meet mission needs, and operations within the architecture of the current national airspace and federal aviation regulations. Additionally, knowledge of private, instrument, and commercial pilot operations is required. The selected candidate(s) must have a Master’s Degree, preferably in Unmanned Aircraft Systems or Aeronautical Science. A doctoral degree preferred with applicability to the aviation related fields of study, experience in higher education, industry, or governmental educational setting; Commercial Pilots License, Certified Flight Instructor Certificate or Fundamentals of Instructing test competed. 

Air Traffic Management teaching assignments may include, but not be limited to Air traffic Basics I and II, Introduction to Air Traffic Control Tower, Introduction to Terminal Radar Operations, & En-Route Terminal Radar Operations. The applicant must also have experience with simulation and training software such as Metacraft, SimSuite, and Prepar3D. The Selected Candidate(s) must have a Master’s degree in technical aviation-related field and applicable previous work experience. Previous teaching experience is preferred.

Aviation Stress Management teaching assignments may include teaching Aviation Stress Management and University Success Courses.  The candidate must possess an understanding of stress on the human condition (physically, psychologically, and emotionally), personal responses or tendencies when stressed, and the ability to teach practical tools, concepts, and techniques to effectively manage stress and human physiology. A master's degree in Education or Human Factors or psychology with professional experience in Stress Management required.
