Job Description

Elwyn seeks a Rights and Advocacy Trainer for Elwyn CA that will develop and facilitate training specific to rights, advocacy, and person-centered planning for individuals with developmental disabilities. The role involves facilitating monthly Self-Advocacy meetings and providing additional training to individuals and staff members on various topics. 

 

  • Facilitates monthly virtual Self-Advocacy meeting for Elwyn CA  
  • Develops and facilitates topical training for Self-Advocacy meetings  
  • Create plain-language support resources for individuals on topics such as rights, voting, participating in IPP meetings, personal choices, self-advocacy, etc.  
  • Develops training program for individuals at Elwyn to learn facilitation and training skills  
  • Research and dispenses information community opportunities for regions within Elwyn CA (e.g. Abilities Expo, adaptive sports, etc.)  
  • Maintain knowledge on best practices for inclusive meetings, self-advocacy, rights and other related topics.  
  • Develops and facilitates topical training for staff related to rights, self-advocacy, communication for non-verbal individuals, etc.
  • Coordinates with Elwyn CA leadership on additional staff training topics  
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred  
  • Experience with the Disability Community  
  • Experience facilitating Self-Advocacy meetings and trainings  
  • Experience developing plain language materials  
  • Familiarity with Disability Rights  
  • Demonstrated self-directed work habits  
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
