The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.

Role Description

The Associate, Supply Chain – Digital Operations Lead is responsible for supporting the definition and implementation of Digital Plant systems and capabilities in the Material Management and Supply Chain function. Defining digital plant business needs and user requirements, ensuring that the end user requirements are well understood and incorporated into the design, and that the applications and systems used are appropriately configured and integrated to fulfill the business need and enable a Digitally Native operation.    

This role will combine their knowledge of Supply Chain and Material Management operations with analytical tools, data handling, modelling and visualization skills, and science and engineering, to deliver digital plant solution to the Lilly Medicine Foundry operations. A significant part of the role involves working with local and global IT experts and system owners to understand digital system capabilities and system positioning, as well as close collaboration with operations, engineering, Technical Services, QA and QC to understand interdependencies between business processes and digital applications.   

Responsibilities

  • Translate the business needs into user requirements for all new digital technologies & solutions in Material Management and Supply Chain that will deliver automated, paperless, fully integrated, data analytics driven operations and business processes.    
  • Develop the standard workflows and best practice and SOPs for utilization of digital technology within Supply Chain business processes and operations.   
  • Define strategies for operational offline and online shakedown and testing of digital solutions post-implementation by Tech@Lilly. Work with the relevant functions to develop test scope and ensure it is planned and executed appropriately.    
  • Liaise with Site Supply Chain operations and Tech@Lilly to develop best training practices to ensure an efficient, effective, and timely knowledge transfer to the end users.    
  • Support the implementation of new digital solutions.    
  • Define and develop user requirements for data collection and analytics to support decision-making and continuous improvement. Lifecycle owner for the Material Management and Supply Chain function’s Digital roadmap supported by SAP, MES and other digital plant solutions.   
  • Contribute to Business Planning activities such as annual standard costing and planning parameter reviews.
  • Identify and implement key process metrics and reporting dashboards to monitor performance.
  • Drive data integrity and monitor system adherence via the deployment of analytics and system knowledge.
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with functions to optimize the day-to-day SCM operations.
  • Support supply chain processes with actionable insights and supporting data.
  • Create dashboards and reports for senior stakeholders using tools like PowerBI to help drive functional performance.
  • Ensure appropriate data governance processes in place for SAP data
  • Strengthen expertise in digital planning tools and support user training and adoption.
  • Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related Engineering field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, preferred in pharmaceutical or other regulated industries.    
  • Experience with integrated business process flows, driven by SAP applications and related platforms, in a manufacturing environment..    
  • Experience providing hands-on support for RF (Radio Frequency) device issues, paper and label printers and/or other infrastructure or application errors used to support Supply Chain operations.

  • Knowledge in Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices (such as FDA, ICH, GAMP5).
  • Experience with business team support during and after internal quality audits or regulatory agency inspections.
  • Experience with business team support of computer system validation and testing activities such as requirements definition, business scenario test  documentation and acceptance testing execution. 
  • Proficiency in modern project delivery frameworks such as SAP Activate, Agile, Scrum and PMI’s Body of Knowledge.
  • Professional Certification in supply chain management (e.g., ASCM: CSCP, CPIM).

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$58,500 - $160,600

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
