About this role

Overview

Warringtonfire, part of the Element Group, has an excellent opportunity for a Materials Control Manager based at our new state of the art testing facility based at Birchwood Park Warrington.

 

Responsible for the management of a small team in support of a highly regulated testing laboratory, you will deliver exceptional levels of organisation, leadership and compliance. As a key contributor to the overall process, you will ensure quality management systems and processes are strictly adhered to, providing regular updates to operational colleagues to enable the testing operation to be undertaken in a compliant manner.

 

Responsibilities

  • Goods in - Accurate processing of goods receipting into the business. Including large items requiring mechanical aids, small shelve stored items and chemical control
  • Storage areas - ensure the management of in-house storage from racking system management to laboratory stores
  • Order fulfilment - Decanting of materials to construction bays within the facility so client have materials available to begin installations of specimens for testing
  • Disposal - Manage the waste contract and the dismantlement of post tested products paying particular attention to cross contamination in waste streams
  • Continuous improvement - Have experience in improving systems and processes within a busy working environment
  • As part of the management team drive discipline within team and ensure the site is always visit ready
  • Max/min stock level management on consumables ensuring all items are available and do not impact the operational team

         Health & Safety

  • Follow and promote all health and safety procedures related to handling and storage
  • Maintain up-to-date training on hazardous material handling
  • Ensure safe manual handling practices are followed

Skills / Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics role, preferably in a laboratory or controlled environment
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Knowledge of inventory systems and logistics software
  • Familiarity with health & safety, cleanliness, and contamination control procedures.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Basic understanding of laboratory materials and regulations (preferred but not essential)

         Desirable Attributes

  • Forklift or pallet truck certification
  • Training in COSHH and manual handling
  • Completion of IOSH Managing Safely certification
