All about the role:
The Release Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing software and application releases across a hybrid environment (on-prem, SaaS, and cloud-native). This role requires cross-functional collaboration, detailed planning, release communication, validation of release notes, and continuous focus on pipeline optimization. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, process discipline, and a passion for continuous improvement in the software delivery lifecycle.

About the CDI Experience Organization:

The Consumer Direct Interaction Experience Organization is a Digital Product Organization responsible for delivering tech solutions to our end-users and consumers across both pre-purchase and post-purchase journeys. We are organized in 15+ digital product areas, providing solutions ranging from Contact Center, E-commerce, Marketing, and Identity to AI. You will play a key role in ensuring the right sizing, right skillset, and core competency across these product areas.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure all aspects of Release Management framework are executed effectively including Governance, Planning, Execution, Communication.

  • Manage scheduled and ad hoc releases, ensuring smooth deployments to test, and production environments.

  • Coordinate cutover and deployment planning with internal teams and vendors, ensuring readiness checklists and rollback strategies are in place.

  • Lead release communication by proactively sharing deployment timelines, release content, and impact across all stakeholder groups.

  • Review and verify release notes for accuracy and completeness; ensure notes are socialized with relevant stakeholders ahead of release execution.

  • Serve as a point of contact for release-related information, queries, and escalations.

  • Collaborate with platform engineering teams to optimize build and deployment pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and implement automation opportunities.

  • Continuously monitor and improve CI/CD pipelines for performance, stability, and reliability.

  • Maintain and refine deployment procedures and scripts within Azure DevOps, ensuring standardization and alignment across teams.

  • Ensure the release practices are properly adopted by all delivery teams.

  • Ensure compliance with internal governance, including ITIL-based Change Management, approvals, and documentation.

  • Identify and implement best practices, processes and tools to create a lean, automated release management to increase time to market.

Who are you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of experience in release engineering, DevOps, or software delivery roles.

  • Experience in deployment infrastructure and strategies, CI/CD tools and pipeline optimization using Azure DevOps, Git.

  • Experience with SAP Commerce Cloud is a plus.

  • Experience with developing and owning release management procedures on SaaS platforms, Cloud Native and on-prem hosted applications with a high level of dependencies.

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/SAFe delivery frameworks.

  • Experience in creating detailed task level plans and in managing dependencies between different software development and delivery teams.

  • Proficient with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, Git, and other software delivery lifecycle platforms.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple releases in parallel while maintaining quality and compliance.
