About the role:
The Costing Function is an organization within Electrolux Finance Operations which is responsible for driving the cost management agenda in New Product Development (NPD) and product lifecycle for all product lines globally. With hundreds of NPD projects on a yearly basis, the team plays an important role in developing next generations’ profitable white appliances.
What you’ll do:
As a Product Cost Specialist/Manager, you will be accountable for managing and tracking product cost along the NPD process, leading cross-functional project teams to identify and achieve product cost target, applying state of the art costing methods, systems and processes. In detail, you will:
- Tracking product cost and managing potential deviations during product development phases to ensure Business Case profit is met
- Working with Business Area and Product Line to define specification and top-down target cost
- Gathering proposals, specifications, historical data, market trends and should cost data from e.g., Cost Modelers, and liaising with stakeholders to determine bottom-up target cost
- Leading the product cost workstream within the cross-functional project team (R&D, PMO, Category, Design, Manufacturing, Procurement etc..) to track cost and evaluate and close the gap between top-down and bottom-up target cost
- Aligning with stakeholders and supporting management decisions by providing appropriate cost information and data
- Preparing documention to share cost assessment and development during the Project Steering Committee in accordance with standard procedure prepare documentation
- Analyzing supplier quotes and working with Procurement and suppliers to ensure an optimal quotation that meets product cost target
- Coaching and mentoring stakeholders in good costing practices, to develop costing capabilities cross-functionally
- Leading the implementation of the new Ways of Working, tools and methods within each Product Line
- Applying cost methodologies, tools and appropriate software models and packages to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate data
- Delivering on functional and project costing KPIs to ensure that the company is achieving cost excellence
- Working proactively within the Costing Function to develop a best in class organization and scale it
As part of the culture of continuous improvement, you will be involved in Lean Thinking projects and activities (EMS/C2W).
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Management, Operations Research, Mathematics
- At least 5-6 years’ professional experience, preferably in an analytical position in a manufacturing environment or in project management
- Business acumen and analytical skills with systematic approach to mass data handling, analysis, and interpretation
- Understanding from key functional areas – procurement, manufacturing & engineering, project management, financial controlling, quality management, research & development
- Experience from product costing in a product development related context e.g., product cost optimization, value engineering, DFMA, target cost ambition setting
- Hands-on experience from using automated cost models, cost database, cost factors, and/or cost estimating related tools
- Presentation, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally with different cultures
- Project management skills
- Strategic thinker with detail orientation, who can challenge status quo
- Knowledge about costing tools like TcPCM, Apriori, etc. is a plus
- Experience in appliance, electronics industry or contract manufacturer is a plus
- You are fluent in English
Where you’ll be:
You will be based at the Curitiba Factory Plant, located in Guabirotuba. It will be necessary to be available for national and international traveling two to four times a year. Benefits include:
