About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Controller to oversee financial accounting, reporting, compliance, and controllership across all Southern African companies within the EDF Power Solutions group. This includes holding entities, development platforms, intermediate holding companies, and project companies.

In this key leadership role, you will ensure financial accuracy, optimise processes, uphold compliance, and drive efficiencies across a rapidly growing portfolio. You will also act as SARS Public Officer and an approver on banking platforms, carrying significant governance responsibility.

What You’ll Do

Accounting & Reporting

  • Serve as custodian of accurate, valid, and timeous financial information
  • Manage treasury, accounts payable/receivable, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, payroll, and general ledger
  • Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes
  • Prepare and report financial results for internal teams, group reporting, Boards, and committees
  • Manage and coordinate Half‑Year and Annual Financial Statements
  • Coordinate regulatory reporting (CIPC, NERSA)
  • Lead and manage audit processes internally and externally

Tax & Corporate Compliance

  • Manage SARS filings and audits for Income Tax, VAT, and Withholding Tax
  • Ensure tax compliance in collaboration with the group tax department
  • Oversee Companies Act compliance, MOIs, and Shareholder Agreements
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS and financial regulatory standards
  • Develop and implement accounting policies
  • Manage the group’s insurance portfolio alongside the central insurance team

Systems, Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  • Maintain integrity of ERP systems (COUPA, FloQast, supporting applications)
  • Design internal controls and mitigate risks
  • Develop SOPs and strengthen internal control frameworks
  • Streamline accounting functions to support growth, efficiency, and cost reduction
  • Lead process automation and data‑driven improvements in controllership

Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Support

  • Manage and coach the controllership team (4 Financial Accountants + 1 Construction Accountant)
  • Support FP&A in change processes and systems development
  • Support Project Finance in meeting lender requirements throughout project lifecycles
  • Drive a culture of accuracy, compliance, and collaboration across the finance function.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Registered Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent, with strong IFRS experience.

Experience

  • 5–15 years proven experience as a Finance Manager or Financial Accounting Manager
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting teams, reporting, and controllership functions

Competencies

Technical:

  • Strong working knowledge of South African statutory legislation and regulations
  • ERP literacy and systems/process understanding
  • Sound commercial and business acumen

Behavioral:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

Leadership:

  • 3–5 years of successful management experience preferred
