Edelman is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Vice President of Health Media to help lead the next generation of healthcare and pharmaceutical storytelling. This role is ideal for a senior media leader who brings deep earned media expertise alongside fluency in pharma innovation, data-driven storytelling, and regulatory environments - and who is energized by translating complex science into meaningful, credible narratives. 

 

You’ll work across an integrated portfolio of global healthcare and pharmaceutical clients, advising media strategy tied to drug development, digital health, real-world evidence, AI and health tech innovation, and data/regulatory communications. This is a highly visible leadership role with the opportunity to shape media programs that influence policy, perception and patient outcomes. 

 

What You’ll Do 

 

Strategic Media Leadership 

  • Serve as a day-to-day earned media lead for large pharmaceutical and health clients, including global and U.S. brands operating in highly regulated environments 

  • Lead media strategy across product launches, data milestones, pipeline announcements, and corporate reputation initiatives 

  • Advise clients on media implications of FDA timelines, clinical trial data, approvals, safety updates, and policy or regulatory developments 

Pharma, Data & Technology Storytelling 

  • Translate complex scientific, medical and technical information including clinical data, RWE, digital health platforms, and AI-enabled innovation into clear, compelling media narratives 

  • Partner with medical, regulatory, legal, and analytics teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic impact 

  • Guide the use of data, visuals, and digital assets to strengthen earned media performance and credibility 

Media Execution & Influence 

  • Secure high-impact coverage across national and local TV, radio, print, digital, and trade outlets 

  • Lead media planning and execution for milestone announcements, executive visibility, media events, and desk-side briefings 

  • Maintain and deepen strong relationships with top-tier health, science, business, and technology reporters 

Client Partnership & Business Growth 

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders across communications, marketing, public affairs, medical affairs, and regulatory 

  • Identify opportunities to grow existing business and support new business development, proposals, and prospecting 

  • Confidently present media strategy and counsel in high-stakes, highly scrutinized situations 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing media teams across levels 

  • Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of learning and excellence 

  • Model strong collaboration across integrated teams, including creative, digital, analytics, and policy 

 

What You Bring 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of earned media experience, with significant work across pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences clients 

  • Demonstrated experience navigating FDA regulations, clinical data communications, and compliance-driven review processes 

  • Strong understanding of pharma technology, AI, data analytics, and innovation ecosystems 

Preferred Qualifications:

Media & Production Knowledge 

  • Expertise across TV, radio, print, online, and trade media, including studio production, satellite media tours, and visual storytelling as well as a deep understanding of new media including influential news-influencers, substacks, podcasts and newsletters.  

  • Ability to guide clients on how data and technology can enhance earned media impact 

Leadership & Communication 

  • Exceptional storytelling, writing, and presentation skills 

  • Proven ability to explain highly technical or regulated topics in clear, accessible ways 

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence senior clients and internal stakeholders

$95,000 - $165,000 annually

An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
