About the Company 

We are a leading global communications marketing firm helping business and organizations evolve, promote, and protect their brands and reputations. We are independent and family owned, which allows us the freedom to deliver original thinking and invest in our clients. In Japan, there are about 90 employees based in our office in Roppongi, Tokyo. We create award-winning creative communication programs for our clients for major global and Japanese multinational companies. We have deep expertise and counsel our clients on consumer trends, research, analytics and insights, corporate reputation, health, technology, capital markets, crisis, energy, and government affairs. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Understands clients’ businesses and their missions, as well as their key stakeholders: consumers, employees, investors, regulators, media, vendors, partners, and other businesses/organizations, etc.  

  • Manages research, planning, creative ideation, and development of comprehensive integrated communications campaigns with senior support.  

  • Ability to manage large projects, as well as junior teams, on multiple sizable accounts.   

  • Demonstrates writing excellence when crafting internal and client correspondence, communications plans, press materials, new business proposals, etc.  

  • Tracks and monitors project financials (e.g., budget vs. actual) and meet client revenue targets with senior guidance.  

  • Proven track record of engagement and work with traditional media, or relevant experience (journalism).

  • Grows account organically by introducing clients to relevant Edelman capabilities, including resources outside of the group, to advance their business goals.  

  • Initiates new business process, including identifying new business opportunities and helping drive the RFP response process.

  • Displays strong presentation skills.  

  • Mentors junior team members and ensures staff is developing abilities through Edelman Learning Institute and other training, including on-the-job training and mentoring. 

Key Requirements: 

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in Marketing, Communications, and/or related fields, including research, advertising, management consulting, media, or publishing. 

  • Superior writing and verbal communications skills, specifically to write to persuade; demonstrated ability to effectively multitask, delegate and manage assignments and accurately evaluate others’ work. 

  • Understanding of global sector trends, with a focus on Asia / Japan region and the ability to draw insights from this understanding to counsel clients.  

  • Stays up to date with emerging technologies and trends and demonstrates an understanding of how they integrate into integrated marketing programs.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
