We are seeking a highly experienced leader to fill the role of Engineering Manager in the Platform Foundations AWS team. This critical role involves providing direct management and technical guidance to engineering teams and driving the technical strategy for the core infrastructure layer, which is focused on our AWS environment.

As the Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for the resilience, compliance, scalability, and cost efficiency of the foundational platform within AWS, encompassing Cloud Infrastructure, Networking, Observability, and fundamental CI/CD capabilities.

You must have experience in a highly regulated environment and be prepared to manage the engineering relationship with internal and external audit bodies for your area of ownership. You will play a crucial role in enabling Ebury's global expansion, including the integration of infrastructure for new subsidiaries and M&A activities.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Execution

  • Own the technical roadmap and vision (6-12 month scope) for your team, covering AWS infrastructure, networking, and foundational tooling.

  • Lead the strategic direction for AWS cloud operations and infrastructure automation, ensuring consistency, security, and maximum cost efficiency across the platform.

  • Be accountable for the reliability, availability, security, and scalability of core infrastructure components owned by your team.

  • Drive the technical implementation for global platform integration within AWS, specifically supporting new subsidiaries and M&A activities by applying standardized infrastructure provisioning and best practices.

  • Serve as a key technical mentor and authority within the domain, coaching engineers on complex architectural decisions and best practices.

Delivery Management and Operations

  • Oversee and provide direction to the engineering team(s) responsible for the AWS-focused team.

  • Be responsible for your team's delivery, including planning sprints and overseeing project health, balancing team capacity with roadmap demands.

  • Ensure alignment between your team's roadmap and the needs of the wider organization.

  • Establish and monitor team-level KPIs related to system uptime, security posture, cost of infrastructure, and delivery velocity.

  • Be accountable for the operational costs within your scope, driving cost-saving initiatives through technology choices and platform optimization.

  • Ensure all systems have appropriate support, SLAs, on-call rotas, and documentation.

People Management and Growth

  • Directly manage, mentor, and coach engineers and Tech Leads within your team, focusing on their career growth, performance, and technical development.

  • Be responsible for managing the team's performance and well-being, initiating corrective actions when needed.

  • Support the definition and implementation of the team’s hiring strategy by actively managing recruitment pipelines to attract and retain high-performing infrastructure and platform engineers.

  • Foster a strong culture of ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within your squad.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Engineering Management experience (focused on direct team leadership).

  • Mandatory experience working in a highly regulated industry (e.g., FinTech, Finance, Healthcare…), with a deep understanding of compliance frameworks and security requirements.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing internal and external audit processes that impact core technology platforms.

  • Deep strategic and hands-on expertise with large-scale AWS infrastructure.

  • Expert understanding of Kubernetes and Containerization, Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform), and modern CI/CD practices across different environments.

  • Demonstrated experience in driving significant initiatives in Observability, Platform Security (IAM, Network Security), and Infrastructure Cost Management.

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical strategies to engineering leadership.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Discretionary bonus based on performance.

  • Being part of a dynamic environment with global exposure and high strategic impact.

  • Continued personal development through training, certification, and mentorship.
