About this role

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

About the team and the role:

As Senior Manager, Content Design on eBay Services, you will lead the end-to-end product content strategy across key revenue-driving domains, including shipping, payments and ads. You will connect the dots across these services to build a cohesive, seller-first experience that accelerates the commerce flywheel and helps grow and thrive. We will rely on you to build important, collaborative relationships with our product and engineering partners, with a focus on craft of execution, creating innovative and intuitive solutions for our customers and taking on eBay’s more grueling challenges through product discovery and design thinking.

You’ll join a growing organization that believes writing is designing. You see language as a design material, and you get others to think the same. You’ll set the standard on the experience quality by working with cross-discipline partners to co-create strategies, iterate through all stages of fidelity, and define outcomes in ambiguous spaces.

What you will accomplish:

  • Build world-class, user-centered experiences that solve for customer needs and deliver on business requirements–balancing clarity and completeness, simplicity and risk, and ensuring solutions are technically feasible and harness future trends.

  • Contribute to the creative direction and work with design leaders to ensure a cohesive user-experience across the product portfolio.

  • Help lead product discovery activities and collaborate on the future direction of the product, framing ambiguous problems and aligning teams on outcomes and success metrics from the earliest stages.

  • Develop experiential concepts, directional messaging frameworks, lo-fi wireframes, etc., to mentor and develop the team to ship faster with higher quality.

  • Act a ‘co-founder’ within the cross-functional product team as it works to identify and validate user problems, produce inventive and thoughtful solutions for users that also work for the business, and ships to market meaningful product updates that deliver tangible results

  • Drive a cohesive end-to-end product narrative in partnership with product marketing, customer support, and localization so customers experience one coherent story, not fragmented messages.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English, journalism, human-centered interaction and 10+ years of professional experience in content-focused roles with 5+ years of professional experience leading content designers

  • Outstanding portfolio demonstrating a broad range of content design work across web-based applications, consumer experiences and mobile devices

  • Ability to synthesize together industry trends, internal and third-party research, team insights, business priorities and partner feedback into practical UX strategy and design priorities

  • Experience driving content design for end-to-end projects and a strong understanding of user-centered design processes in agile, cross-functional teams

  • Proven ability to define and evolve scalable frameworks, guidelines and standard processes that improve team velocity and effectiveness—and to drive adoption across cross-functional partners (design, product, engineering, research, marketing, support)
