Inspect, salvage and repair a variety of castings. Fabricate major repairs to castings when necessary such as rebuilding flanges on EJB and EBM castings, repairing and rebuilding mis-drilled holes and any other welding processes to salvage a scrap casting. Work with other departments on QC checks, possible repairs and problem solving for casting issues. Make minor repairs including welding that can be brought to the weld booth. Using fixed and variable gauges and visual inspection, check for defects such as thin walls, thin lips, core shift, flow holes, misruns, strains, etc. to insure prescribed quality standards and/or extent of repair. Weld using electric arc, acetylene, along with heliarc welding equipment as necessary following standard methods and procedures that have been utilized in the Aluminum Foundry. Setup and operate CNC Saw. Perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities such as minor maintenance that includes cleaning, inspection, minor lubrication and tightening loose bolts. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Administer the 5-Ss. Follow prescribed or standard safety regulations. A minimum of three (3) years of welding experience. Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Syracuse, NY (50 miles) will be considered for this position. Use of advanced shop mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas, all varieties of adjustable measuring instruments and the use of broad training in a recognized trade or craft. Apprenticeship or equivalent to high school plus a 2-year technical college education. Five (5) years of previous welding experience Ability to work in conditions including exposure to heat, fumes, noise, grit, etc. present to the extent of being objectionable.
