The Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) products comply with global safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal design guidelines. This role supports the full product lifecycle—from concept design through validation and certification—by driving safety focused design decisions, leading internal and external safety testing, and coordinating with certification agencies such as UL, TÜV, and CE bodies. The engineer works cross functionally with electrical, mechanical, firmware, quality, and program teams to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and deliver safe, compliant, and reliable VFD products to market. Lead safety analysis and design reviews throughout product development. Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., IEC/EN/UL 61800 5 1, 60730, 60950/62368, insulation coordination, creepage/clearance, grounding, protective circuits). Define safety requirements related to insulation systems, spacing, materials, thermal limits, protective components, and fault tolerance design. Safety Testing & Validation Develop safety test plans for internal lab and external certification labs. Conduct internal safety tests such as dielectric strength, working voltage, leakage current, temperature rise, abnormal tests, component failure simulation, IP Type tests, and mechanical safety evaluations. Analyze test results, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions with cross functional teams. Ensure test equipment, fixtures, and processes comply with required safety standards. Prepare and manage samples, technical documents, BOMs, critical component lists, construction files, and deviation assessments for certification. Act as primary interface to UL, TÜV, CE Notified Bodies, and other global agencies for audits, inquiries, and issue resolutions. Track certification status, renewal cycles, factory inspection findings, and ensure timely closure." BS degree,>3 years of experience with VFDs, inverters, power converters, or motor drive systems. Experience with VFDs, inverters, power converters, or motor drive systems. Experience working with agencies (UL, TÜV, CSA, CQC, etc.). Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 13849, IEC 61508) is a plus."
