Dunham's Sports Corporate Office, located in Troy, MI, has an immediate opening for an Assistant Buyer-Retail.
This position is responsible for planning and purchasing assigned categories, while assisting and supporting the Buyer to maximize the unit's effectiveness in achieving sales, profits, and market share objectives for the Company. This position is not remote or Hybrid.
Responsibilities
- Input data for purchase orders
- Plan, negotiate, and purchase assigned categories
- SKU creation and maintenance, and Auto Replenishment set up
- Track on-hand and in-transit merchandise as it relates to ads
- Assist with Markdowns, transfers, and vendor returns
- Work with vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of merchandise
- General office organization, filing, and administrative functions
- Manage Re-order inquiries and follow up
- Stock and sales analysis by store, class, and vendor
- Setting up purchase order and analysis spreadsheets
- Assist with all open-to-buy reports
- Support management with data and analysis, including monitoring sales, tracking orders, reviewing sales-to-stock ratios, and analyzing trends
- Work closely with an assigned buyer on financial recaps and ensure the buyer can maximize the effectiveness of all reporting
- Work in tandem with a buyer to manage the vendor performance to achieve all financial goals
- Review and analyze advertising results
- Some travel required
Qualifications
- Prior experience buying in a high-volume big box retail environment
- Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, MS Outlook)
- Understanding of retail math
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and with our vendor partners, both in written and verbal means
- Strong Multi-tasker
- Ability to take fast-paced direction on a variety of tasks
- Analytical and creative thinker
- Ability to travel to vendor meetings, trade shows, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
