About the role

The DroneShield Tech Team is expanding and is looking to recruit an NPI Engineer to work with the Design Team, Quality Team and Production Team in taking product prototypes through to production. This role will be heavily involved with the build and test process and will develop documentation for DroneShield’s in-house Production Team as well as contract manufacturers. Experience with RF, electronics and Python for test scripts and task automation is preferred.

The position will report to the NPI Team Lead. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail and a passion for technology who wants to develop their career in a fast moving ASX listed defence technology company.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations 

  • Develop and maintain assembly documentation in collaboration with the Design and Production Team
  • Develop and maintain production QC documentation
  • Develop IQC and OQC requirements in collaboration with the Quality Team
  • Work with suppliers to resolve part quality issues and implement supplier level QC processes
  • Train DroneShield production staff and contract manufacturers on correct assembly and testing
  • Communicate required design changes to the Design Team
  • Develop simple test jigs for DroneShield products to improve assembly efficiency

Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

  • Degree in Engineering, Industrial Design or relevant certification · Familiarity in electronics assembly and testing of low volume, high complexity equipment
  • Familiarity writing instructional documentation
  • Familiarity with RF equipment and testing preferred
  • Familiarity with CAD Tools (Solidworks and Solidworks Composer)
  • Familiarity automating production processes through the use of Python
  • Ability to understand complex concepts and processes
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Passionate about technology
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a fast-paced team
  • Respect and appreciation of process, doing the right thing even if no-one is watching
  • Strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and handle pressure
  • “Can do” attitude and willingness to help in variety of tasks, including occasional tasks unrelated to the core role
  • Suitable to hold a security clearance if required
