GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Epic Cadence Analyst will have primary responsibility for the design, build/configuration, testing, validation and ongoing support of their assigned Epic application(s). The Analyst will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge of the software functionality and acquiring/utilizing knowledge of the operational workflows to be implemented with the Epic system. The Analyst will be responsible for coordinating aspects of planning, design, development, training, implementation, communication, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionality related to Epic and related information systems.

The Epic Cadence Analyst is the primary support contact for the Cadence application and SER Records. They will be responsible for the configuration and build to meet the needs creating and maintaining SER Records as well as scheduling departments. They coordinate all issues for their application areas and must be very knowledgeable about the organization's policies, procedures, and business operations.

May require participation in on-call rotation including weekend and after-hours coverage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Positions in this class may perform any or all of the below listed duties. These should be interpreted as examples of the work, and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

  • Understanding of the organization, users and workflow in the analyst’s assigned area.
  • Ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, manage issues, oversight and implementation of project plans. Work with Epic TS and related Epic Application Analysts to manage complex issues and optimization.
  • Ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization and user community, which directly influences how the system will be built.
  • Thoroughly review, analyze and test every system change; follow proper change control processes.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, education, evaluation, maintenance and coordination of Epic and related applications. 
  • Assists with and/or develops tip sheets or training documentation for new, or changes to current, workflows; communicate with department leadership and application users any specific information related to their application.
  • Maintain an Epic user web account to access group discussions, white papers, training documents, new version training material and release notes. Attends webinars, seminars and workshops to learn about new developments and changing technology trends; may participate in testing new vendor provided software in a test environment for possible use by the health system.
  • Maintain contacts with Epic partner and related vendors; attend product demonstrations, user group meetings, Epic sponsored webinars, and/or arrange to acquire and install system upgrades.
  • Performs other related work as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

All levels are required to successfully complete the Epic certification(s) in their applicable area within 90 days of class attendance.

  • Typically has 3 - 8 years professional experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be knowledgeable of new trends in electronic health record use and Epic applications, and be able to apply that knowledge to their assigned area and the Epic system as a whole. Understand the importance of responsiveness in all situations and act accordingly. Utilizes the knowledge and skills of supported area to determine practical functions that are suitable for Epic applications. Assists in the development, implementation, education, evaluation, maintenance and coordination of Epic applications. Researches the implementation of Epic applications to assess effectiveness and satisfaction to ensure patient confidentiality and system security. Assists in development and organization of Epic educational training programs. Assists others in developing criteria for application, development, project planning, hardware, and consulting services evaluation and selection of Epic applications.  Ability to operate a personal computer, file server, and host computer. Think logically in abstract symbolic terms; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing including providing technical information in non-technical terms; maintain detailed and accurate records; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
