About the Role
Downer is seeking skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Technicians, or Fitters to join our team in Mackay, QLD. This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds: workshop-based maintenance and the variety of field service. One day you’ll be in the workshop, the next you’ll be on site diagnosing faults and keeping projects moving.

Key Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and maintain heavy plant machinery and trucks
- Diagnose and resolve breakdowns in the field
- Ensure all work meets Downer’s high safety and operational standards
- Work collaboratively within a skilled team while also operating independently
About You
- Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Plant Mechanics, or Fitting (essential)
- Strong hydraulic knowledge and diagnostic skills
- Experience with mobile plant, trucks, and heavy equipment
- Auto electrical experience (highly regarded)
- HR and Forklift licences (desirable)
- A proactive approach and commitment to safety
