About this role

The opportunity

 

Downer’s Energy & Industrial business is seeking a Contract Administrator to manage day-to-day commercial and contractual matters for major projects. Reporting to the Commercial Director – Energy & Industrial, and with guidance from the Senior Commercial Manager, this role ensures successful project delivery through effective contract administration, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

Based on-site, you will support multiple project teams, liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on budget, and in compliance with Downer standards. This is a critical role underpinning the success of Downer’s projects and client satisfaction.

 

What you’ll do

  • Administer upstream and downstream contracts, including payment claims, variations, and compliance tracking
  • Support project teams with commercial strategies, risk management, and dispute resolution
  • Maintain project registers (delay, variation, insurance) and ensure timely reporting
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to manage contractual obligations
  • Provide commercial leadership and guidance to project teams to optimize outcomes

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in contract administration or commercial management within capital projects
  • Strong understanding of contracts, variations, claims, and dispute resolution
  • Commercial acumen, analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Proactive, results-focused, and team-oriented approach
