About Ditto:
Ditto is redefining how data moves at the edge. Our mission is to make it seamless for developers to build resilient, real-time applications, regardless of network conditions. Whether you're in a stadium, airplane, or remote military base, Ditto's peer-to-peer sync engine ensures devices stay connected and data stays consistent, even without internet. With more than $145 million in funding and trusted by organizations like Chick-fil-A, Delta Airlines, and the U.S. military, Ditto powers mission-critical experiences across aviation, retail, travel, hospitality, defense, and more. As a globally distributed, fast-growing startup, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the wide range of perspectives needed to solve the world’s hardest connectivity problems.
As Engineering Manager for our Networking team, you'll lead a team of 8-10 software engineers writing the code that powers Ditto's overlay mesh network and userland drivers. This network intelligently routes data across multiple physical transports including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), LAN, Apple Wireless Direct Link (AWDL), WiFi Direct, and TCP/IP radios.
This role requires both deep technical expertise in wireless networking, and proven people leadership capabilities. You'll report to the Director of Engineering and work closely with our SDK, Data Sync, and Public Sector teams to deliver the reliability and performance our enterprise customers depend on.
Lead and develop your team: Manage, mentor, and grow 8-10 software engineers working on complex networking challenges. Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations. Build a culture of technical excellence where software engineers do their best work.
Own the technical vision: Drive the technical roadmap and architecture for our mesh network. Make critical decisions around protocol design, transport selection, performance optimization, and reliability improvements. Balance innovation with the operational stability required for enterprise and public sector customers.
Deliver results through your team: Implement biweekly sprint processes and drive execution against team OKRs. Ensure your team ships reliable, high-performance networking capabilities that meet customer SLAs and business objectives.
Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Product to translate customer needs into technical requirements. Work closely with SDK teams to support a wide array of operating systems and target platforms. Collaborate with Public Sector teams to develop bleeding edge networking capabilities.
Maintain operational excellence: Participate in incident response for networking-related issues. Drive post-mortem processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure comprehensive monitoring, observability, and documentation of networking systems to users can self-help, and Ditto can support customers from afar.
Thrive in a fast paced environment with high impact: Partner with customers, Product, engineering leadership, and adjacent engineering teams to define and ship industry defining mesh networking capabilities at a fast pace with innovative customers and public sector partners.
Software Engineering leadership experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2+ years managing software engineering teams. Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong technical talent.
Deep networking expertise: Strong technical foundation in networking protocols, routing and packet handling, RF and wireless networking, or related domains. Ability to dive deep into complex technical problems and guide your team through difficult architectural decisions.
Systems thinking: Experience building low-level infrastructure or systems software. Understanding of performance optimization, failure modes, and reliability engineering principles.
Delivery focus: Track record of shipping complex technical projects with measurable business impact. Experience implementing agile processes and driving teams toward concrete outcomes.
Communication skills: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including software engineers, product managers, and customers. Comfortable presenting technical strategy to leadership. Particularly strong written communication and a bias towards clear written communication.

We offer competitive salaries and meaningful equity. We believe everyone on the team should have a stake in what we’re building. Benefits vary by region to make sure you're covered in the ways that matter most. In the US, that includes health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, plus a 401(k) and flexible spending accounts. For our team members elsewhere in the world, we work with our global employer platform to offer equitable benefits and coverage.
Regardless of where you live, everyone at Ditto can utilize flexible time off. And while we work remotely, our Atlanta and San Francisco offices are open if you ever want a place to work or meet up with teammates.
At Ditto, we know game-changers don’t always come wrapped in a “perfect” resume. Years of experience? Every single bullet point checked? Meh. That’s not what drives us.
What does matter?
Grit.
Curiosity.
Adaptability.
And a genuine spark for what we’re building.

About Ditto
Ditto allows teams to manage their copy from design to production with a single source of truth. Copy is currently the most under-leveraged aspect of building product, despite being even higher ROI than design and touched by everyone from legal to engineering. We experienced this problem first-hand while working as engineers at Google, Facebook, Twitter, Asana, and Instagram. We're growing fast, so what you build has the chance to materially impact the workflows of product and design teams. If you're interested, apply on Bookface, or send a bit about you + your resume to [email protected] .
