Overview

Saint Ann Catholic School in Naples, Florida is seeking a dedicated and reliable Full-Time Custodian to join our facilities team. The Custodian plays a vital role in supporting a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, families, and visitors. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the values and mission of a Catholic school community.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness and order in assigned areas of the school, ensuring that all classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained.
• Performs daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation.
• Assists with the setup and breakdown of school events, liturgies, assemblies, and special functions.
• Adheres to proper cleaning methods, storage, and care of equipment and supplies in accordance with local, state, and OSHA regulations.
• Uses and wears safety and/or protective equipment as appropriate.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Supports the safe operation of the school by locking/unlocking buildings, securing rooms, and monitoring facility access as directed.
• Performs minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, restocking supplies, and addressing small repairs when needed.
• Assists the Maintenance Director with seasonal projects, deep cleaning, and campus-wide upkeep.
• Reports all accidents, damages, or potential hazards to the Maintenance Director immediately or as soon as reasonably possible.
• Attends in-service training to develop and improve knowledge and skills related to custodial and maintenance work.
• Demonstrates professionalism, respect, and a positive attitude consistent with the mission and values of Saint Ann Catholic School.
• Complies with and supports school regulations, policies, and safety procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Administration in accordance with school policies.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous work experience as a maintenance worker, custodian, or janitor, preferably in a school or institutional setting. 
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and proper maintenance procedures.
• Understanding safety protocols and disposal of hazardous waste items.
• Ability to lift approximately 50lbs.without assistance. 
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, climb continuously.
• Occasional Weekend hours will also be set in advance for specific events, as needed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with students, staff, and visitors.
• Willingness to support the Catholic mission and values of the school. (Applicant need not be Catholic but must respect the school’s faith-based environment.)
• Valid drivers license.
• Must pass a post offer physical exam.
