D&T plays a critical role in enabling Diageo’s digital agenda through delivering our strategic priorities in many areas, including E-Commerce, Digital Marketing, Demand Sensing and Manufacturing Optimisation. 

Programme Managers are responsible for delivering projects within a Product area:

  • Consumer

  • Customer

  • Corporate Functions

The Programme Manager will be positioned within the Customer Value Stream, collaborating closely with the director and sub-stream leads to drive key programmes effectively.

This position necessitates collaboration across numerous cross-functional teams while maintaining accountability to senior stakeholders.

The candidate must possess extensive experience with diverse delivery methodologies and demonstrate adaptability in tailoring approaches based on situational demands and stakeholder requirements.

The Programme Manager holds overarching responsibility for programme delivery by partnering with sub-stream leads in a functional capacity supported by the Head of Portfolio & Strategy. This encompasses successful programme initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.

Candidates should have proven experience delivering commercial programmes within the CPG industry alongside familiarity with relevant processes and technologies.

The role involves leading high-complexity programmes characterized by multiple work streams or deployments involving varied technology investments coupled with significant financial commitments.

Extensive expertise in budget management along with financial process/accountability is essential.

Partnering effectively with diverse stakeholders from various teams/partners is crucial.

Programme Managers typically oversee programmes featuring complex multi-geography/functional/process/system footprints where risk levels range from medium to high concerning business operations/change impact/compliance/controls.

This role plays an instrumental part in fulfilling strategic programme commitments by transitioning seamlessly between strategic initiatives and operational details while setting priorities for diverse delivery teams ensuring exceptional execution standards are met consistently.

These are the typical responsibilities we expect from the Programme Manager:

  • Planning & Communication: Develop/manage project timelines/schedules; anticipate impacts; communicate plans clearly ensuring alignment via steering committees/weekly updates. Leverage Diageo PMO tools to ensure transparency of information.

  • Risk Management: Identify risks/issues; apply problem-solving/collaboration skills mitigating/resolving issues; manage dependencies communicating clearly at all organizational levels.

  • Financial Oversight: Responsible for comprehensive project financial planning/management confirming quarterly spend against outcomes adhering rigorously to monthly tracking/reporting benefits/KPIs.

  • Programme Delivery Ownership: Inspire/lead teams delivering per plans/timelines fostering collaboration across diverse members holding them accountable facilitating constructive dialogues influencing progress applying continuous improvement methodologies addressing maturity gaps supporting implementation changes. This includes managing conflict and addressing resource allocation challenges.

  • Governance Accountability: Establish robust governance models driving decisions/outcomes/stakeholder engagement following PACE methodology working alongside Delivery Partners taking full accountability for compliance with standards.

  • Outcome Delivery: Ensure stakeholder engagement behind outcomes understanding agendas solving problems resourcefully.

  • Change Management: Understand broader impacts securing buy-in/sponsorship collaborating ensuring awareness/desire/support knowledge ability receiving changes making them stick delivering benefits.

  • Vendor Collaboration: Work alongside vendors developing/delivering solutions adhering compliance standards coaching mentoring facilitating personnel changes as needed.

With a diverse portfolio of projects, our programme managers are responsible for overseeing multi-million-dollar budgets. While they will gain insight into Diageo’s financial processes through hands-on experience, we seek candidates who already possess strong financial acumen and substantial experience in this space.

·       Experience: Over 10 years of experience in managing project delivery within CPG commercial programmes, encompassing multiple markets and multi-million-dollar budgets.

·       Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to influence at all organizational levels with strong communication skills, comfortable leading complex initiatives efficiently.

·       Leadership: A true leader who thrives in ambiguous environments and performs well under pressure.

·       Certifications: Agile and PMI certifications or equivalent experience are preferred.

·       RFP Management: Proven experience in managing complex Request for Proposal (RFP) processes.

·       Process & Technology Expertise: In-depth knowledge of processes and technologies relevant to the commercial space.
