About this role

In this role you lead a team to develop our primary software for financial settlement of energy and commodity trades. Your work will directly influence the European power market - a growing market that is in search of further innovation. We process transaction data from the exchanges in front- and backend, serving and create interfaces to our own and external systems via messaging or webservices and create reports for various stakeholders, for example. We take a domain-driven approach and work closely with the business departments to understand their needs and develop efficient software solutions for them - this includes planning, design, and development of new functions. Technologies such as OpenShift for containerization are used, and the use of Google Cloud is also on the agenda.

Our current tech stack is as follows:

  • Java Web application with Spring/Spring Boot and Hibernate
  • On-Premises solution with MySQL and OpenShift
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with e.g. Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub

 

Your tasks:

  • You will manage people who are part of change teams, which include functions such as requirements specification, architecture, development, and testing
  • You ensure the further development of your employees, resolve conflicts, provide feedback, and offer coaching
  • To do this, you will coordinate closely with the other Heads, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters
  • You ensure that a high level of technical and professional quality is achieved
  • You remove obstacles, break down barriers, and enable your employees to be successful and satisfied while fulfilling their roles

Your skills:

  • Affinity for people management and experience in leading teams in software development
  • Professional proficiency in an agile environment (Scrum approach)
  • You understand yourself as Engineering Manager
  • Good understanding of Domain Driven Design and modelling of IT systems
  • Strong background in software engineering and methodology - combined with lots of hands-on experience
  • Very good knowledge in at least one object-oriented language (preferably Java)
  • Excellent communication skills on the management level and in general very good language skills in German and English
