Operate or tend washing and drying machines to wash and dry-clean industrial or household articles, blankets, linens, including using spotters.
Job Tasks/Duties
Direct operational or production activities.
Operate garment treatment equipment.
Sort materials or products for processing, storing, shipping, or grading.
Count and record finished products or workpieces.
Remove products or workpieces from production equipment.
Clean production equipment.
Lubricate production equipment as needed.
Inspect items for defects, damage, or stains.
Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying or standards.
Compare physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards.
Smooth garments wit irons, presses, or steamers.
Mount materials or workpieces onto production equipment.
Prepare fabrics or materials for processing or production.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm in one position.
The ability to adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with you arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
The ability to see details at close range.
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
The ability to be active in a warm to hot, limited space laundry room.
QualificationsJob Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Production and Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control over costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Active Listening- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Monitoring- Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Education and/or Experience
Little or no previous work-related skills, knowledge, or experience is needed.
